Florida Outpouring? pt. 1

Is the Florida Outpouring real? Is it Christ-centered? Is it God-honoring? Is it truly the Spirit of God moving in people's lives? I'm not certain it is any of those things. I am reserving judgment, but am also "testing the spirits to see if they are of God." (1 John 4). I simply ask you listen with an open heart and do the same.

"Salvation message is simple and I'm stickn to it." That's what I'm talking about. A man after my own heart =). I didn't care until I saw my family being somewhat into it; that's when I decided to say a few things.

My point wasn't to promote any cessationistic ideas. I am a reformed charismatic, in that order. =) I don't believe that any gifts of the Spirit are deprecated after the writing of the Bible or anything like that. God the Ghost still distributes all the gifts according to his will, no doubt. I just believe that the majority of the time they are seen "operating", they aren't really there, but, rather, are just an emotional flurry of an immature believer.

that is EXACTLY why I don't have to "seek out the negative." It doesn't require a search team at all. This whole deal with angels in the movement is absurd. "God and HIS ANGELS inhabit the praises of His people"? Where is that in Scripture. And Jesus promised that if we worship "in Spirit and in Truth" that "His angels will come" along with his presence?

This is simply NOT Christianity. This is Christian mysticism. I am NOT saying that you or others in the movement are lost, necessarily.

Lastly, v. 2 in 1 Cor. 2 is pretty important to the use of vv. 4 & 5. vv 1-2, "..when I came to you..I didn't come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.For I decided to KNOW NOTHING among you EXCEPT JESUS CHRIST and HIM CRUCIFIED." Out of THAT flowed the "demonstration of the Spirit and of power" in v.4

I'm totally down with Spirit-filled encounters. I'm not down with movements that have Jesus only in the margins, as if He is only the ticket to get into the show.

I totally agree. Todd Bentley is a FALSE PROPHET!!! His miracles are part of the LYING SIGNS AND WONDERS of these LAST DAYS!!!Good spiritual discernment!

i know what you're going through, my mom is totally obsessed with this and has estranged several children for not sharing her enthusiasm. all i can say is hang in there, something's gotta give. at least you know what's going on. i've found that i can't really say anything to her about it, she overreacts etc. she's just not herself. tread lightly. even when asked what you think. some people are changing their minds given time and i hear this is dying down, but what next? pray each day!

Hiyas yeyo, I tried to reply on one of your Bently videos.. Wanted to encourage you to listen to the part around the time of 5:25 of the video you played. Todd was saying the "Annointing of Todd Bently" Hmm..I don't know yet what to think either..but I know this - Jesus Christ is our Lord and HE should always get the Glory and we serve in His Name. At one point I can't agree with you. Pentacost was the FIRST time Spirit came on all flesh. But he never left. We ARE living in the 'end times/days'. I have dreams from the Spirit and I know prophets, i have seen healings. The Spirit is as strong as he was on the day of pentacost.

The problem is people do not understand how it works. They should spend more time in John's Gospel than in all theological books on that topic.

Nevertheless, Florida is not from God - Bible is very clear on that
