  • not so good

  • er.....get a better dmeonstrator man.

BTW this is not traditional drumming entirely.

Part of it is traditional and part of it is called 五音(5 bits) or 羅梁 (Law-Leung). However the tansition between 5 bit and the traditional drumming is not very good.....

For the traditional bits......he has a lot of room to improve his variations, hes drumming is so boring.

These skills level remind me of boring lion dance in China Town in foreign countries.

  • @wlpoiacb I was referring to your comment: "This skills level remind me of boring lion dance in China Town in foreign countries". Not to the person's drumming.

Notice you typed, "....boring lion dance...." and not "...boring lion dance DRUMMING...".

But yes...the drummer needs to practice a bit more to get a good rhythm and beat going.

  • @happydragon5077 Lion dancing moves on the street does not necessary influence the drummers performance. Quite often experienced drummer can perform complicated tricks even if the lion is on simple moves. Regardless of the variety of tricks the drummer can perform in this video, his drumming foundation is still at a basic level. At the end of the day, if you have fast hit frequent (flexible wrist required) and good rhythm (which is an inborn talent) you can adapt to any style of drumming easily

  • @wlpoiacb Lion dancing on the street is different than dancing on a stage. On the street you bless the business, eat the lettuce, do a few simple freestyle moves and bow. On the stage the lion (And the musicians) follow a set of routines that have been practiced for a long time. So, they have to show the best of what they've got in an alloted amount of time.

Plus on the street....a lot of cities don't allow lion dancers to climb up on each others shoulders because of liability reasons.

  • Sure - there may be some areas they can improve and work on, but they are having a go.

As for the comment about lion dance in China town in foreign countries - I find this a disgraceful comment. There are some brilliant teams performing lion dance across the world - all in the name of promoting the culture of lion dance. Keeping the art alive and sharing it with the world. We should consider all teams across the world as friends - one big family in lion dance.
