dude habs4life. im indian and i date. and none of my cousins in india are geting arranged marriages anymore. arranged marriages in india are slowing down now.
if you talk to indian people they will tell you it is illogical for someone to pick their own spouse and date. to them the parents picking the mate provides a sense of security that the dating scene does not give. it also ensures proliferation of the next generation. this is what the cultural upbringing of indians makes them believe. the problem is when they bring these ideas HERE, where the ideology is different. i have been in a culture clash with my parents my entire liife.

what the hell is this supposed to mean. that just because someone isn't a WHITE canadian it means they're not an ACTUAL canadian? it's people like you who make MY life difficult you jerkoff. i'm brown and i consider myself CANADIAN and nothing else. i happen to descend from an ethnic group which happens to be indigenous to the indian subcontinent, but this has no effect on what nationality i am! fuck you
if your parents want you to marry someone of your race, then they are racist. my parents are like this and i call them racist all the time and it pisses thm off but i don't care because i'm from an open-minded generation and they are backward and they will fortunately be dead soon.
well maybe not racist PER SE, but ethnocentrist for sure, which by extension often involves preference of a single race. i mean, indian parents these days are more after the CULTURE, it's just that everyone raised in the culture happens to be of one race. but if you did an experiment, like plant a white baby in an indian village and leave him there to be raised by the people, that white kid would speak the indian language and indian culture would be all he knows. what would happen in that case?
