Ugh... what do we have to do to make it clear to you non-Queen's students that WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE!!! You come and screw things up, trash stuff, and we have to deal with the fall out. We're sick of it.

The most infamous year of Aberdeen, of all the arrests made, not ONE was a Queen's student.

You crash our traditions, and you stupidly dance a jig to the oil thigh. STOP THAT! It's the school song, and the parts you don't understand are in Gaelic. And you don't do a jig to it!

@Wingnutman Being on someone's lawn doesn't make you imune to being charged with offences such as causing a disturbance, breach of the peace or mischief. There is no "real" solution that will make a street party acceptable to the general public. There will always be the questions of safety, security, and liability.

...from 1984 to 1988, Aberdeen was not the site of the street party, University Ave was, and they were almost twice the size!! This situation is not going away on Aberdeen until landlords decide not to rent to students.....you can't have it both ways.

Nothing will ever replace the freedom of a street party, and I'm sorry, but unless you are attending the school.....

Well, actually, they have a responsibility to do this job on behalf of the people who pay taxes in the city. There is no answer to the problem of the Homecoming street party other than to get rid of Homecoming altogether.

Aberdeen, University Ave,,, all of these places are going to continue to be sites of potential street parties as long as Kingston landlords keep renting to students.

Aberdeen has become what it is because it is now exclusively student housing. When I was at Queen's....

Next year, take it to University Ave. That's where we had them in the 80's. Last major street party at Queen's before Aberdeen became site of choice since 2000, was on University Ave., in 1986. Homecoming used to be held 3rd weekend of October. 10,000 people on the street. No more Open Air 1987 - and no Street Party. Same in 1988.

2006 Aberdeen was the way it should have been handled in 1986, and the way it should always be. Pipe dream though because of policing costs and liability.
