The Law of Karma, set upon the singing of 'Om mani peme hung' and pictures of the beautiful countryside of Sikkim. All the quotes are from the Tripitaka, retrieved solely from accesstoinsight.org.

"The happiness and suffering of all beings,
are due to karma, the Sage taught;
Karma arises from diverse acts,
which in turn create the diverse classes of beings."

Karma is contrary to three wrong views, 1. Pubbekatahetuvada: The belief that all happiness and suffering, including all future happiness and suffering, arise from previous karma, and human beings can exercise no volition to affect future results (Past-action determinism).
2. Issaranimmanahetuvada: The belief that all happiness and suffering are caused by the directives of a Supreme Being (Theistic determinism).
3. Ahetu-apaccayavada: The belief that all happiness and suffering are random, having no cause (Indeterminism or Accidentalism).

The main job of karma, is teaching people responsibility and their potential to change.

  • GIVE IT UP, KARMA IS JUST YOUR IMAGINATION!! WHY DON'T YOU FORGIVE YOURSELF!!

  • @judgefoallraces I do.

  • Question: If there is no self how does Karma operate?

  • @Hackney2000 The personality arises as a result of conditions. For example, when there are logs as a condition, fire can burn. By no-self, the Buddha is saying, the self does not exist independent of such conditions. That is to say, self is not permanent, eternal, or substantial, but changing and conditioned. Just like fire.

In fact, one of the conditions of the self is Karma. Karma is just conditioned effect as the result of actions.

if one is reborn a beetle, its isnt punishment, if I drive a porsche and crash due to my inability then I move to lesser car, if the sould cannot steer the human, try a bug, start again, maybe next time?

it is also true that some people are so lost, so missguided, that failure is almost guaranteed.

we cant blame or hate them, just recognise them, to help or defend from.

if one hasnt seen the devil, u cant know what to avoid so to speak if u were christian.

  • @tpvalley This is not the law of Karma.

not as it is written no, but the reality of what is written, obviously the devil has nothing to do with it, it is metaphor.

what I mean is bad karma is not punishment, it is to learn from, like evil.

  • @yadsik Thank you :)

  • @yadsik, thank you so much for helping my understanding with this. It really does make perfect sense, and I appreciate your taking the time to make this thoughtful reply.
