@fire112germany: It's an unofficial way to indicate what response level you are at. Code 1 would be with lights and sirens going to an emergency. Code 2 would be with no lights or sirens but you are still needed somewhere, but the scene is no longer an emergency. Our provincial ambulance service uses similar repsonse codes.
