I think the reason Ruth wasn't hired was because she was too strong on her views and will challenge Sir Alan if had to. That's probably why he always hires people who listen rather than strong personalities in all the 1st 4 episodes.

Another woman who's seduced her way to success. The only man in the show who wasn't seduced by her was Nick, who warned Sir Alan about her and told the Interviewers that they've been seduced by her. It was obvious that she didn't give a shit about the job, and would quit a few months later.
