Protesters in Oakland, California are planning to try and shut down the city's port - the fifth-busiest shipping container port in the United States, in what they are calling a general strike on Wednesday.
The protesters are part of the 'Occupy' movement sweeping the world in which people are rallying to stop, amongst other things, corporate greed.
Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Oakland.
@Maxdwolf By your answer, sounds like the point hit home.

@yeahlikewhatever The funniest part is, you think you were making a point there.

@Maxdwolf I'll tell you what. Go to the nearest USMC base, get a visitor pass, then go to the gym. Go up to the biggest jarhead you can find, then tell him the guy who runs IHATETHEMARINECORPS-dot-COM is a swell guy.
But before you do it, call an ambulance.

@yeahlikewhatever Ok, so he smoked some dope, hates the marine corps and doesn't like Israel. Not the picture of heroism initially painted by some. Doesn't make him a traitor or justify smashing him in the face with a tear gas canister and interfering with his rescue.

@Maxdwolf That anti-semitic Scott Olsen post was from March 8, 2008 (while still in the USMC):
truthdig-dot-com/eartotheground/item/20080307_iraq_turkey_look_to_end_kurdish_clashes/#139551
Definitely him, used his own pic as an avatar.
So we've established that he hates the USMC, has poor personal image management skills, and smokes a lot of dope. Perfect match with #Occupiers.

@Maxdwolf "To criticize the Turks for defending their national border and cheer on the Hebrews for expanding theirs on the land of the other indigenous people you forgot to mention. The only distinctions the Kurds have, they share with many other indigenous people is that they did not show up by boatloads to occupy and settle someone else's land and by contrast majority of Hebrews do not even live in the said Hebrew mother land and are perfectly happy where ever it is they call home." - s olsen

@Maxdwolf I wonder if CountryStone and Intellys knew that one of their "Network Engineers" (as Scott Olsen describes himself and who he works for presently) know that he's been growing dope and posting pictures of it on the internet?
He won't get any medals for "personal image management", that's for sure.

@Maxdwolf Scott Olsen worked IT in the USMC. He says he got out in Nov 2009 after 4 1/2 years. He says he even got a good conduct medal at some point. Graduated HS in 2005.
I don't see evidence of a dishonorable, the 4 1/2 years seems to fit with a commitment term. Likely served it out.

@Maxdwolf I haven't looked for "proof" but as I said that's what is circulating -- unverified -- that he was not infantry, but was an IT tech -- that he had a drug problem (cocaine mentioned), and that he got a dishonorable. If there were drug problems, maybe it was only a general -- who knows?
I can verify he has a thing for ganja -- check out the plants, personal pics, and bongs on his flickr pages:

@yeahlikewhatever Ok, I'll give you that, despite the discrepancies in locations listed. He was not a fan of the marine corps. Now, support your statement on the discharge.
