New EU State? Catalan calls to redraw maps gain momentum

Momentum is growing in the Spanish region of Catalonia for an official referendum on independence. Catalonians say they should become another EU state as they have their own language and national symbols. So far unofficial polls have been overwhelmingly in favour of separation, which the Spanish government has dismissed as RT's Igor Ogorodnev reports.

@SeriesCatalanesTV , As you noticed I know the history of Catalunya in Spain, but regardless of that. Legally Catalunya is located in Spanish land. If some of you want to have your own country look somewhere else. Spanish constitution will never allow to separate any of its territory to allow traitors like you create an enemy country within Spain.

@viniciusb , by exercising a coarse and vulgar vocabulary, you think you may persuade others with your opinion. A minority group is a sociological category within a demographic. Meaning not being part of the majority most ''certainly" makes them a minority. I hope the few neurons you may have allow you understand the Spanish constitution doesn't allow independence of any of it's territory. However, it does allow unhappy citizens to leave the nation and adquire a new nationality if desired.

@viniciusb , "Catalunya wants to be its own state"??? You mean a minority group wants Catalunya to separate from a soverign country (Spain in this case)? If you heard this report correctly, not the majority of Catalans want Catalunya as a separate state. Pay attention next time you comment. Catalunya is in Spain!!! Catalans are Spaniards by birth!!! Their passports indicate they are Spaniards, their birth certificates indicates they were born in Spain. Now what part don't you get retard?

@GregLA818 What it isn't said here is that the region of Lusitania was a paert of what romans called Hispania as a large territory, not as a dependent state. Lusitania is nowadays more or less the area of Portugal, and that isn't Spain. The Gaul included as a large amount of provinces the province of Belgium, and as it is shown, it's not a part of France. The Roman Empire doesn't help to explain that unitary theories.
