ChestBox core Demo with an actual Vader Ep III chestbox assembled by my friend Arkos for his own costume. Proper coin slot sequence (still easy to customize), configurable breathing rate, motion activated alternate sequence and breathing rate (when vader is walking / moving faster), vocal menu for on-the-fly sequence change, and volume control / muting using one of the coin slot as a lit switch

hello Arkos there!
For specialist the box is at first a Portumac, highly modified to match the Ep3 specifications (reshaped, button moved, modified etc).
It was quite a pain but nothing to compare to Irvinplecter work! This not a cool gadget but something bringing life to my costume, useful, intuitive, and full customizable for each specifications. This is just the ultimate Vader box available in the world, and and f*****g lucky to get one for my EpIII Vader costume (matching 501st standards ).

Wonderful bit of work there, Erv! Oddly, though, I noticed that after about halfway through the video I caught myself breathing in time with the gadget...

@BrinLondo5 : héhé. That's the pawa of the dark side I thing ;-)

Erv... you might consider "ramping" the breathing rate in a sort of "gradually getting heart rate going" type of way... :)
Sort of like when Vader is fighting--the film sounds had him breathe QUITE rapidly! :)
You could even have an entirely different sound clip/sequence, so that the pitch and time shift, etc. doesn't have to be "faked"? :)
greytale 1 year ago
@greytale ramping is actually doable even if the sensor is just a simple one ! In the demo here, the sound remain the same but there's an alternate breathing sound slot in the sound bank to have it, indeed, different when he moves. I don't remember but I think the module can tweak the pitch in real time too

@irvinplecter yeah, cool! For example... the longer you keep detecting motion--in little "time increments/checks", you could continue to increase tempo & playback until it reaches a certain "ok, we won't go higher than this" point... and when you detect that they stop moving... slowly go back down the pitch & playback... so that they are "reducing heart rate"... :)

@greytale : you read my mind. That's exactly how motion is computed right now. I just have a single threshold instead of a continuous scale or a quantized scale !
