LaTonya Jones lives off of $64 a month. She depends on California LifeLine for affordable phone service and to stay in touch with friends and family. Big corporations like AT&T want to raise the rates on low income customers like LaTonya and replace flat rates for phone services with a voucher. LaTonya spoke out at a May meeting of the California Public utilities Commission (CPUC), asking commissioners to defend the program she depends on for basic phone service, including local calls and 911 access.
