Video produced by Hank Sinatra of Austin (www.austinmusicvideo.org) in Houston, 1988. Carlene Jones was good friends with Blaze near the time of his death and she said Blaze really loved her song. Blaze's grandfather was a Pentecostal preacher. Carlene still performs and writes her music. I let it run to the end because Hank enters the shot and shakes hands with Blaze at the very end. (My copy of the video has some problems, that's why it's making that weird patterns on the right hand side.)

  • Kindest regards to Carlene Jones. Beautiful song.

  • Yeah, it's a real teary song. I corrected the title, it's "None for the Shepherd." Hank Sinatra enters the shot at the very end and shakes hands with Blaze. Thanks, Anna, love ya!

  • @mopacmedia Do you know how old he was when he died.So sad to hear how he died.I only found him 18 months ago what a presence,

  • @flairross He was 39 -- but his friends said that he lived life fully and packed a lot into those 39 years. Sad that he died but he lived life to the fullest, according to his friends. Glad you found his music!

  • Absolutely beautiful harmonies

  • And it's one for the master, but it was too hard to keep

Three for the grown man who cries in his sleep

And for every sinner his mercy runs deep

but there's none for the shepherd who is lost with the sheep

He's down at the mission every day around four

but the soup from the kitchen is what he's there for

He talks about Jesus and stares at the floor

And nobody knows if he's there anymore

  • He was a preacher, in a small Texas town

Till he turned to whiskey and slipping around

Then all of his angels came tumbling down

And he would up in Dallas too close to the ground

There was always a bottle and not much to eat

He was out on the sidewalk and dead on his feet

And Lord it's a sad congregation to meet

When a man of the cloth becomes a man on the street

  • much obliged

  • In the words of Blaze -- "that's a doozy!!" Beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Hank and Kevin. -- Mandy
