"what impacted their feelings about their birth was how powerful they felt... like they were supported...what they said mattered, those were the things that made their birth a positive or negative" I didn't do natural childbirth and felt isolated from the natural childbirth community, but this resonated with me so much. This video was educational, inspiring, and non- judgmental. It's a must see for all expecting mothers.

@brawnylass I am so sorry I do not fully understand how this messaging on Youtube works. I just saw your reply. What do you mean and how? :) Thank you. PS. It may be easier to communicate with me if you are on facebook, like my page VENUS BIRTH and write me there. I check that daily. thank you!

I noticed in your list of services that you provide a TENS unit. I have a TENS but it was prescribed by a medical doctor. My question is, how can you provide/apply something to a client, as you being a Doula, when Doulas are NOT licensed to write or prescribe any types of medicinal treatments such as a TENS unit. I've also heard of a couple of doulas (not you) using the Rebozo to reposition a baby they believe to be in the wrong position. Should Doulas be engaged in such activities?

@njde67 Thank you I just saw your reply :) I am excited as we are just starting our next group of Volunteer Doulas. I have had 7 through our program and in the past year we have served over 50 women. I love it!

@ErinFisher I checked out the website...I love what you are doing over there. I'm in SF...mostly serving private clients and I take the occasional volunteer client through various programs and referrals. There are several volunteer Doula programs and some CHOW programs that do prenatal/postpartum support. Nothing like what your doing down south...I'm inspired!
Lovely! Saving it to my favorites to share with clients, perspective clients, and those who just want to know more about what I do!

Great information. I would love to see a video like this that addresses a more diverse client base...thinking single moms, teen moms, families of other ethnicities, lesbian families...I see a lot of videos geared to a primarily Caucasian heterosexual audience and I'm eager to see something more inclusive.

Thanks for the comment! The producers of the documentary contacted previous clients, local birth communities, and the general public. We are greatful to those that volunteered their time.

@njde67 I agree as well. Overall it is great to get all feedback. At the same time, I am a doula and the work I do is with teen moms, young at risk moms, many cultural backgrounds, single etc... We are working on gathering testimonials from these mothers but we will not be making any documentary but we will be gathering the info. you can see the orgnization i am with at helpinghandslovingheartsdoulas website
