As usual you have some beautiful themes and effective (though sometimes awkward) piano writing. The secondary theme is endearing and impressive when returning in the Grandioso
Yet I'm not convinced by this as a whole, it seems top-heavy compared to its thematic material and I agree with those who say that this lacks in development and counterpoint. It's like a collage of short episodes, 'connected' by ritenuti. I'd also say it needs a strong main theme between the intro and the middle section.

I don't understand some of you guys. Why don't you just encourage him to learn the damn counterpoint!? I mean he certainly seems to be willing to improve and learn. Sure this music isn't perfect, but you can see that he doesn't want to do pop music and that he has ideas + some talent. If his impulses could be served by composing pop music, then I'm sure he would have done so already. Anyways, end of message^^

I agree with the comment that you are very extremely prone to 'piano filler' vs. really making music with much 'fabric' to it. You have 0 interest in counterpoint, and to these ears, your thematic materials, motif or melody (I did a quick check of your other work) are really more tonal / simplistic pop style sounding. I think your main impulse is best served composing light instrumental pop music.

I don't know how to say this without sounding rude .... <.<
This doesn't sound classical at all (not that it said anywhere it was supposed to be classical), and how is the 2nd part Andante Cantabile? ... you don't have a solid melody to sing in that part. I know that everyone here loves the concerto, but it all sounds like it's mostly improv. and that you tried to make it as technically demanding as possible to compensate for the lack of good melody and harmony.
Sorry dude, that's just me

This piece is so epic. The cadenza was brilliantly composed. You sir are a great composer.
@cbreemer Hi, thanks for your comment. Well, I don't think that it lacks in counterpoint but at that time (1995) I had so many ideas that I wanted to put in the concerto and that some listeners can argue that some of the ideas may be not developed enough. But what you call the intro is the 1st theme, I still am convinced that the concerto in its most recent version on Scoreexchange is ready for performance (I can rewrite some awkward passages in consultation with the pianist).

This piano concerto originated in 1995 and was written down in 2006. Altough my composing skills have improved since, I regard this piece as finished and more or less ready for performance (the most recent version). Some pianist already asked for the score. And to those who do not love it, no problem. But be sure: I made use of counterpoint ... Thanks for commenting and feel free to do so further.
@MuseDuCafe All I can say that is that your comment is simplistic, rather than the music.

You show some really bold and imaginative harmonic progressions in the exposition. For someone who's never had formal training in composition this is remarkable. You're prolific too, which is all the more amazing. I am a kindred spirit of sorts in that I have no formal training in composition and only took it up last year. I have one piano concerto finished (Op.1) and have the 1st movement of my Second (Op.2) up as well. Please have a listen on my Homepage. We have a lot in common.

Solid work. It's nice to have some sort of score to follow, so thanks. I don't think the piano part is really very difficult, if you are aiming for virtuosity. The block chords that jump octaves (closed voicing) [ex. bar 137...] may prove rather difficult in comparison to what else is going on. These can be simplified by removing the root pitch for the jumps. If you stay in the middle of the keyboard too much in a concerto, the piano will not carry in a hall, when orch. is playing fortissimo.

@Composerland Thanks for the comment, and indeed in this concerto I didn't aim for a very difficult or very virtuoso piano part.
