Here is the very first film appearance of Daniel Day-Lewis, from the controversial 1971 film Sunday Bloody Sunday. It's blink-or-you'll-miss-him time again, with DDL as a young thuglet who's scratching up some cars with a broken bottle. He's around 13 years old here - the one with the red bandanna.:)

  • So was he the third kid scratching the car? Looks like his nose...and/but his hair is straight.

I've gone overboard in fanhood since watching There Will Be Blood. I'm now rewatching previous movies I've seen DDL in, but I've never seen or heard of this one.

  • U must be a great fan to have all this material.

    Thanks 4 posting!

  • who would have thought ddl would go on to become the best actor of all time (yes i said that) its what i believe)

  • @emmyjaye So have I. After watching My Left Foot ,The Ballad of Jack and Rose did me in!! Couldnt believe its the same person. What a remarkable actor.

  • blink AND you'll miss it. geez if you're going to use a cliche at least say it right DX

  • great post man ive seen bloody sunday does this movie tell any different????

  • @emmyjaye if youre american you wouldnt have, dont think it really made it over there.

  • @Cool2BCeltic That event occured a year after this film's release. You're thinking of Paul Greengrass' Bloody Sunday (2002).

  • @ReflexTomorrow "..all actors are method actors.." - Daniel Day Lewis. That is more or less what he said. I forgot where I watched the interview.

  • lol. i bet he spent three months keying cars to prepare. but in all seriousness i think he is the greatest actor to walk the earth

  • This is one of the best British movies of the 1970's.

  • I realise now this is the film about the bisexual guy who is simultaneously in a relationship with Glenda Jackson and Peter Finch, nothing to do with Northern Irish troubles.
