  • Felt much anguish reading the book in the early goings and was inspired how these women were able to turn things around.

A true believer in the "Girl Effect"!!!

  • Having fewer women means more prostitution? Why? The women who are left in India and China aren't going to be able to be mothers if they are given diseases! How will a woman abused by men care for children?

  • this book is absoloutely amazing.

clearly, a lot of research has been done and its so hard to put down!

    support the cause!

  • @tornadotouchdown i disagree. as stated above, male circumscion has medical benefits and is safer, female is often done with less ceremony and often has more to do with misogyony. i agree that both sides need to be represented and men are often as much of victims as women, but every group must have their champions and people devoted soely to them if things are to get done

  • Male circumcision is relatively safe and is supported to reduce the spread of Aids. Female genital mutilation has nothing to do with preventing Aids and is much more brutal and dangerous.

  • The problem with this book is the lack of moral consistancy between men and women. For example, the book decries female genital mutilation, but actively supports male circumcision. also, it assumes that only women are impoverished and that men are not repressed in their own ways.

  • great video! i will surely buy this book.. thanks for sharing!
