Harper in Nanaimo

The Prime Minister made a rare visit to the harbour city today.
Stephen Harper was on hand to preview Naniamo's new cruise ship terminal.
It's the second time in the past few weeks a federal leader has visited the island and with just two weeks until the parliament opens in Ottawa some are wondering whether the scent of a fall election is in the air.
A recent Nanos poll suggests support for Stephen Harper's conservatives is dropping in British Columbia and so today's visit to Nanaimo may have been as much about raising the conservative's profile on the island as it was about celebrating the harbour city's new cruise ship dock
