  • Patrick Mower is so shit, this was a failure after just one series.

  • Two short series, actually. But it was still a bad misjudgement by the BBC. Much too violent.

  • I have been waiting for this video to show up since quite long time. Could you please upload the clip which has got the Target music also.

  • Okay, done

  • And of course they moved the producer Phillip Hinchcliife off the mega-successful Doctor Who to do this and put the original producer Graham Williams in charge of the Tardis....

  • 'Target' was a complete balls up from the start, as it was originally intended to be quite different. The BBC just couldn't cope with the quality and speed Thames backed Euston Films did things and made lots of mistakes. Having it shot around Bristol, but the having post production in London made things progress even slower and in all only 17 episodes were shot over 2 series. I'd buy the DVD if it ever comes out, but it is just a ill conceived version of 'The Sweeney' with Mowers ego to boot.

We'll watch this space and both hope for an official release. I'm not commenting on Network and the BBC; but here's hoping! There is a part of me that is suspect about the BBC's attitude toward this series and I am not wholly of the opinion it is down to any particular actor blocking it; though it might be contributory!?! There are so many variables at play here..

  • @sdg1970

A contact at Network advised me several years ago that it would be released. If they got that far in their negotiations with the BBC, it clearly had nothing to do with economics, does it? Whether someone is blocking the release or not, it certainly has nothing to do with the BBC being 'embarrassed' by it. That's just a dumb, made-up comment. You've spoken to the BBC's Director General and he's advised you he doesn't like it, has he?

  • @tonyrome67

Your equally mis-informed matey!! Even if Phillip Madoc wanted to block it he couldn't, quite simply - that one has been doing the rounds for years!! 2Entertain/BBC don't warrant this as a viable release imo, hence why it has still to appear.

  • @sdg1970

It has nothing to do with the BBC being 'embarrased' by it! You think they view each show and decide whether they like it enough to release it? D'oh! The reason it hasn't been released on DVD is because one of the actors, whose permission is required, refused.

  • It would have to be Mary Whitehouse that complained! The woman was a pain in the arse who was out of touch entirely with the real world! Target was great drama. What would Whitehouse have made of the drivel we have today? I can imagine her watching Hollyoaks!!!

  • Target was AFB unfortunately it was killed by whiners.

  • screeching types at the beginning, what video did you watch??

  • It was repeated in 1990 (Series 1 anyway) on the shortlived Galaxy cable channel. Never been on since as far as I know. Unlikely to have a DVD release as the BBC over 33 years on are still somewhat embarrased with it. I personally prefer it to The Sweeney in all honesty..
