The Marinarella Overture was composed in 1907 by Julius Fučík, a Czech service composer. He is also the author of many famous marches such as The Florentinen March or The Entry of the Gladiators.

The Marinarella Overture takes the listener back to the beginning of the 20th century, to the world of colonnades, walks and fountains. The first idea of this slideshow was to create it using purely images of fountains and sea, but I didn't get that many pictures. The idea of using old photos was also unsuccessful. The actual version tries to capture the spirit of the old Austro-Hungarian Epmire through the pictures of sightseeings.

Countries depicted: Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Czechia. The north-eastern parts of Italy are not included. The images and their order were chosen to capture the atmosphere of the music itself.

  • I recall rehearsing this as a Concert Piece when I was a young musician under training in the Royal Marines School of Music as I was the principal clarinettist and so played all of the cadenzas, including the one of the missing instruments! This was only in 1954, but I still recall every note and our conductor at that time is still alive and in his nineties!

  • Great music, great composition of images. Thanks

  • yesterday i listened to it in Salzburg, it was great ;)

  • We're going to play it on a ball...it's so difficult...Fucik was great composer...

  • @Dahro1993

We're playing this too, indeed it's nice, but not difficult at all!

I'm sorry for maybe wrong words but I'm not very good in English.

  • the best composer for wind orchestras ever

  • We are playing this in our orchestra for a galaconcert. It's nice, but difficult.
