True, I know all that, but the seante has direct power over legislation at the same level as the reps. Sadly it is what is left of the hybred system of a Federation and states. lets face facts, there might be a strong level of cultural difference between states, but the US is just one big super state, and not a true federation.

There are a lot more differences than that, but I will give you that they are both pretty crappy parties to deal with... which is why I can't solidly support any one party. I would prefer a complete reform of government and to elect everyone brand new and elect begining at a local level and then working up from there, rather than people whom I don't know and never met and can tell me anything they like true or not. but that isn't likely to ever happen... so I go with the best I can Ron Paul

The only difference between thew Republicans and Democrats is that the Democrats alow the poor to be corrupt too. That is hardly a mark of you as an open minded person
-
That means sometimes you see things like a democrat and sometimes like a republican... seems simple enough to understand to me...
such as, I am pro death penalty and pro choice...

You can still be a dick, even if you are female, I believe in equailty, secondly, everyone thinks they are in the 'middle' of politics, whatever that is.
Fair doo's. I think the main problem in the US is that your candidates buy adverts on TV, but over here, in the UK, that is illegal, candidates are expected to knock on doors and meet people in public. our MP's are also supposed to return to their consistituencies every weekend to invite residents to voice their concerns, politics is far too impersonal.

To be fair though, our country has nearly 5 times the population and many times the land mass. I'm not saying your political system is more flawed than ours, I'm saying that political system, logistically, is not feasible in this country.

Well, infeasible for a President, I should specify. Representatives could do this and likely benefit from it.

True, I think is is strange that you have 2 senators in every state, Alaska and cali having the same amount of representation for two states with very different populations is fundamentaly undeocratic. We just have an MP for a consituency, about 90,000 to 100,000 in each, all accountable to their constituents.

It's not that strange at all. Probably because you don't fully understand our system. We have both Senators and Representatives. There are 2 Senators for every state. The number of Representatives are determined by the population of the state. Also, the original purpose of the Senate was to represent the State governments, not the people, well, not directly anyway. That was the job of the House of Representatives.
