In Wonder @ McConnell Arts Center (Vocalist Live Pro, JamMan Solo, RC3 Loop Station, GT-3)

This rendition of "In Wonder" was performed at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center in Worthington, Ohio in January 2012 as part of Jim Volk's "Acoustic Guitar Night".

Have you ever been told you're 'too young' to know anything, or 'too old' to be in sync with current times? I composed the lyrics to this song to delve into the concepts of youth vs. aging and how age sometimes does, and other times doesn't bear relevance to the way a person may perceive themselves and others. We can ask ourselves if we still hold awe and wonder as precious parts of our outlook on life. We can look around and see examples of those who are living each day with childlike surprise and contrasting examples of those who are living the same day over and over again...

The many musical movements in this song are arranged to correlate with the lyrical assertions like 'I have my need to be free' and 'I'm still me' -- When the song reaches the looper-based bridge, it becomes a floating, spiraling, hypnotic passage that I intend to represent the wonder, awe and anticipation that I hold for life as a 'Child in Wonder'

Self-expression and creative pursuits exemplify the spirit of following ones true instincts; breaking away from watching the 'garden sprinkler spray' by becoming a part of something alive and vibrant.

I am using my Ovation Balladeer routed thru the Vocalist Live Pro, then into the Boss GT3 then into the DigiTech JamMan Solo looper routed thru the Yamaha MG82cx mixer, the mixer effects send/return busses guitar and vocals thru the Boss RC-3 Loop Station - the sum of all is then sent into the house PA. I am singing thru an Audio-Technica ATM-73a and using Audio-Technica M3 IEM (in-ear monitors) also fed from the MG82cx.

The audio in this video is from the house board, captured using the mini-dv on camera mic. Please pardon the low resolution (.wmv) and un-matched cameras, these are from tapes intended for archive only.
