This muscle is the antagonist of the hamstring muscle. This muscle is activated when walking, standing and jumping. As any muscle, when you fail to use it, you lose it. This muscle helps elevate the patella, which will assist in maintaining the tracking and reduce decay to the underside of the knee cap.
