Original Version of "When I'm Sixty-Four", track number nine of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

The Beatles recorded the song in C major, but the master take was sped up in order to raise the key by one semitone at the insistence of McCartney. George Martin remembers that McCartney suggested this change in order to make his voice sound younger. McCartney says, "I wanted to appear younger, but that was just to make it more rooty-tooty; just lift the key because it was starting to sound turgid."

Paul McCartney:
lead vocal, bass guitar, piano

John Lennon:
guitar, back vocal

George Harrison:
back vocal

Ringo Starr:
drums and tubular bells

Robert Burns, Henry MacKenzie, and Frank Reidy:
two clarinets, bass clarinet

  • where the hell did u find this?!?!?!

  • @15782157 I found it in a pirate collection of "Sgt. Pepper's" (this collection have a good number of interesting things, but I don't remember what is the name - "Sgt. Pepper's... Plus", "Golden Sgt. Pepper's..." something like this). After, I put the original song (the archive I had in my computer was FLAC, 24-bit) down in speed and tune to, you know, get a better quality. I like to share things with another people, I hope you have liked it :)

  • B E A U T I F U L, the british accent. Save the Beatles!

  • 47 years left... :( :D

  • Está muy bien. Gracias.

  • oh I'm already 50

  • I still like this version better than the sped up version

  • Gotta love when those studio-remastered "bootlegs" surface. ;)

  • The mono remix was slighty faster and that was THE version McCartney was presen fort when it was remixed.

  • Open released version in Audacity. Slow it down by -6%. Raise pitch by 1 semitones without changing speed. MINDFUCK. Open released version in Audacity. Lower pitch by -1 semitones with out changing speed. MINDFUCK.

  • @15782157 I think he just slowed it down/brought the key down a bit.
