Using CE5000-40 Craft ROBO Pro - Graphtec's desktop, professional cutter plotter and Cutting Master plug-in to Adobe Illustrator CS5, I demonstrate how to send an Adobe Illustrator packaging design to print, then to crease and cut it out using a desktop cutting plotter machine.

How to cut gift boxes and mockup packaging using Adobe Illustrator and automated cutting machine. You can use this cutter and software plug-in to cut out up to 100lb cover, card stock and pre printed heat transfer media.

  • Although I have a simple Craft Robo, I find this video very interesting. I would love to understand a bit more about cutting speed, when a slower or a quicker one is preferred.

    Thanks for uploading this.

  • @Fancylooks

What I've found is that a moderately slower speed (15-25 setting) is best for accuracy on thicker material such as this 100lb cover cardstock. When cutting thinner, more malleable material, the slowest setting I use is 40. But again, for fine detail such as small fonts and circles, a slower speed setting is best.

Even though a vinyl or a cardstock is rated at a specific thickness, brands still vary in their production quality. Making test cuts on your various media is recommended.

  • The specs say that the maximum thickness of material is 0.25mm but what you're using seems to be much thicker. Won't it damage the machine?

  • Thanks for the demo.

  • @cuttingplotter thank you so much

  • @pobelhaft

  • @pobelhaft i am from Mexico, so I apologize for my bad English ...

I have a Graphtec C-500 060 I use to cut vinyl ... but I would like to know what type of blade used for that role, and if it is needed the backing sheet?

Actually I have no idea where to find the backing sheet ...

  • Love this, thank you for showing it - as a side, what's the music please? really like it!

  • @Fancylooks This is a very valuable lesson, thank you for taking the time to help me.
