I had this done. works great so far!

Had my first consult about this surgery today - 26-year-old male with LPR (and a hiatal hernia to boot from birth) that continues to experience reflux even with 60mg Dexilant daily. Will be meeting with another surgeon to get their opinion next week and then setting up a date for this exact surgery. It will be nice to no longer have (or as much) heartburn and hopefully my upper airway problems can finally begin to heal.

thank you for the video... how long does this procedure typically take from start to finish?

I had this surgery in 2000. I woke up from the anesthesia and realized the heartburn was gone for the first time in years.
Post surgery, I was on a soft diet for 30 days. On rare occasions I have suffered from bloating from foods like onions. I avoid them and am fine.
This surgery was very successful for me. Would I do it again? YES!

I am sorry but I don't know any physicians in your area. Find a major teaching hospital.

this procedure usually takes about an hour. If there is a hiatal hernia involved, an hour and one half is typical.

This surgery is indicated for patients with both acid and non acid reflux with complications or unable to tolerate meds. Also, patients with a significant hiatal hernia or Barrett's esophagitis are candidates.

there is always a period of swallowing difficulty after this procedure. It improves over 2 - 3 weeks on average.

the sutures are permanent, but on occasion, the wrap can breakdown. The surgery is designed to be a long term cure of the problem. If your symptoms have returned, see an experienced gastroenterologist and have a workup.
