You will never see a fight like this in the modern era--

-- form Wikipedia--

He began 1919 winning five bouts in a row by knockout in the first round. Then on July 4, he and world heavyweight champion Jess Willard met at Toledo, Ohio, for the world title. Few gave Dempsey a chance against the larger champion and many called this fight a modern David and Goliath. Minutes before the fight started, Kearns informed Dempsey that he had wagered Dempsey's share of the purse on Dempsey winning with a first-round knockout. As a result, the first round of the fight was one of the most brutal in boxing history. Dempsey dealt Willard a terrible beating and knocked him down seven times in the first round. Willard had a broken cheekbone, broken jaw, several teeth knocked out, partial hearing loss in one ear, and broken ribs.

  • ‎"A champion is someone who gets up when he can't." - Jack Dempsey

  • 2:40 Execution

  • LOL at the folks who think Tyson would've stood a chance against Dempsey. Jack's speed and absolutely brutal left hook would make short work of Tyson.

  • Damn he took a MF beatinh thats better than Rocky Balboa lol

  • oh man, jess willard just taught me how to take a beating

  • Willard was a beast. To take a beating like that and from Jack Dempsey no less and still get up time after time...it takes courage and heart.

  • Wooow! Thats not pretty to watch! If only Jess stayed down he wouldnt have sufferes such terrible injuries. BUT rules back then were utterly stupid. Those rules completely prevented and neutralized any objectivity of one or the other boxer´s knowledge and superiority. This was gambling!! Translation: one boxer landed a lucky hit and got the privilege to beat the other one for the rest of the day. Simple as that. It was kinda unfair, dont you think, people?

  • @dennisbudasz123123 1. He beat an old jack johnson who reports say was winning the fight until he couldn't go anymore in the really late rounds.

    2. When you are that big and un-skilled, you can get hit with anything. Dempsey was not fighting a smart fight at all this time, he went in there and utterly threw until he destroyed that guy.

1.That "Big ass chump" beat Jack Johnson

So "He has no business" is bullshit and everyone knows it.

2.No "Wild Punches" can land THAT many times.

    3.This fight was epic.
