CHAN:
The Chinese milk crisis continues to make headlines around the world. Now tainted products are turning up in South Korea and the Philippines, causing concern among consumers.

STORY:
The Korea Food and Drug Administration or KFDA, says it has found melamine in rice cookies produced in China by Haitai Confectionary.

KFDA also says it found milk cookies imported from Hong Kong were contaminated with melamine and will be pulled from shelves.

[Choi Sung-rak, Food Safety Official]:
"Due to this incident, we will prohibit the import of Chinese food containing milk powder until we can assure the safety of Chinese food."

And in the Philippines, health officials issued a ban on the import and sale of milk products from China. They're now being tested for contamination.

[Francisco Duque, Philippine Health Secretary]:
"If something is from China, whatever kind of milk product, we should not wait for a list of banned items. What's important is to refrain from buying, and for stores to refrain from selling. People should not wait for the official list, those are delaying factors, while what we need to do is protect the health of consumers."

The Philippines' Bureau of Food and Drugs is testing more than 30 China-manufactured milk products for melamine content.

And in Hong Kong the island's Center for Food Safety continues to discover that milk products from China are contaminated with melamine. These include products from Four Seas Cake and White Rabbit Creamy Candy by as much as six times the safe limit.

Professor Chan-King Ming from the Chinese University of Hong Kong is uneasy with the whole situation... which was covered up by CCP officials for about a month.

[Chang-king Ming, Chinese Univ. of Hong Kong]:
"The leader of the relating departments, secretary of Chinese Communist Party and local officials are involved with the enterprises. They don't care about civilians' health, but only their own profit.”

More than a dozen countries have banned China dairy imports, while others from Australia to Yemen recalled products by today, fearing potentially lethal melamine-tainted milk has made its way to their markets.
