Brenda Holloway- a stunning beauty with a voice to match.

Another astounding discovery from the Motown vaults. An unbelieveably beautiful production from the first note. If anyone ever doubts that the Funk Brothers and Motown's writers and producers were miles ahead of the musical curve, just let this song play. The opening alone- who else was doing this sort of grand-scale production (and so well!) in pop music? A harp, strings, a delicate arrangement- maybe the question is- did Motown think this was a bit too ahead of what was going on in music at the time?

Brenda Holloway's vocals couldn't possibly be topped or bettered by anyone. There is an emotional depth that always amazes me each time I hear it. What's even more amazing is that Motown's vocalists recorded so much material often in quicker-than-you'd-think sessions and still delivered material that was gripping.

Brenda Holloway was one of the most gifted singers to record for Motown. There are plenty more of her songs recorded for the label that no one ever got to hear until just recently. Each is magnificent to hear. Brenda has a way of caressing a lyric that makes you really, I mean REALLY stop and listen to her. Thanks again for your great comments!
