The CRTC passed a decision this week to put a cap on how much access Canadians can get to the internet, before telecom companies charge them for overages. I took to the streets of Vancouver to ask: How do you feel about metering the internet?

  • @TheHurriquake Why not? Everyone does it, and it's not like he's going to be identified and hunted down for appearing in this video.

  • Here are my thoughts:

MY THOUGHTS: The internet, like electricity use, or water use, is a billable service, in which should be charged. If putting a cap on, limits the mass downloading that is killing the music and film industry, then I am 100% for this.

Woman at 0:25: Absolutely on the ball

Guy at 0:48: I download lots of movies games and...........porn, in my mom's basement

Girl at 1:04: Heard of a library or a newspaper?

Guy at 1:11: There is always one isn't there.

  • Why is everyone upset over this?? When was the last time you phoned up your utility company ie: electricity provider, natural gas provider etc. etc. and told them to STOP CHARGING ME BY METERING ME!! You haven't?? Well, let me suggest you and I have been paying USER BASED FEES for decades. It seems strange when the ISP's DARE charge us by a metered basis we suddenly feel the need to complain. Let's not be hypocrytical, next time you get your utility bill, call them too.

  • @MsB0RG Calm yourself. It was a bad comment. No reason to freak out.

  • @jmo87 No but it gives the proponents of UBB something to point a finger at and use as an example as to why UBB is needed. I can hear them now: "UBB will help curb media piracy!"

The last thing we need is to give these corporate sharks something to dig their teeth into.

What's funny is if Bellgers had come up with a more reasonable cap, say 80-100GB and a more fair overusage pricing, I bet there would have been much less resistance. But they got greedy, surprise, surprise.

  • @schiperzaone i totally agree think of the advances in technology in the past 10 -20 years its not that there is more information really its the fact that information is available to everyone

  • wow ... spammers in their basements with robot computers ? where do you find these people ?

now i live right next door and this is kinda freaking me out that it will be just a matter of time before it hits me hard too

Canadians i feel for you but you must kill this virus before it spreads !

  • the state in bed with corporations, like always

  • @TH3C00LGUY Good point, good point. hahaha.

  • @TheHurriquake Sorry bro, but he didn't say "illegally" ... Don't you purchase movies/episodes/music/books and get the option to download them online? who is the idiot now ;)

In addition, even if he said "illegally," which company has the time to investigate to see if this particular person downloaded THEIR copyrighted stuff illegally so they can press charges against him!!! bro think before you write! peace

  • Think about "cloud computing". Everyone will use it exept Canada. Canada will be stuck in the stone age! How easy you give up your liberty! Some people fight for it years and years and you just give it up just like that! Such a shame!

Don't forget we are living in the informational age and the internet is the backbone of everything!
