But unless we clip their wings now, those inspirational and aspirational atheletes are liable to turn on those who are only good at virtual tennis, no?
Sure. Of course there are people with less athletic ability, but why should we should not punish those capable of great athletic achievement by making sports easier. Stephen Hawking has more than made up for a lack of athletic ability with his scientific intelligence.

Drunk driving deaths have not yet given way to virtual drinking, or driving so why should sports be affected by bad sportsmanship?
I don't believe these so called "past experiences" outweigh the athletic achievement of all other inspirational athletes.

"a stick to beat others with?"
Why would athletic individuals ridicule impaired individuals? That's bad sportsmanship and is discouraged by spectators.

But can you not accept thet there are those who are less athletic through no fault of their own? Like Stephen Hawking?

I don't believe that is discrimination. Less athletic people choose not to play.
One of the basis of professional sports is the discipline to maintain and improve one's athleticism. Fans appreciate that dedication.
