  • It;s funny how Smitherman drew the LRT lines as though they were subway lines. What a manipulative jackass.

  • The current SRT needs to be widen to have enough space for subways and it would be required to make another tunnel for the future Ellesmere/Midland station since the curve is too tight between Ellesmere and Midland stations.

  • Between Sheppard-Yonge to Downsview, there should be only one station at Bathurst since there's not much of demand on Faywood and Senlac. It will end up like current Bessarion station where people don't ever use. Also, SRT also needs to be converted into a full subway extension on B-D line with a closing down of two stations Ellesmere and Midland station, rather converted into one station at the intersection. McCowan also needs to be closed. LRT lines are needed on Eglinton Crosstown and Finch.

  • @cheeriosinabowl Depending on what you build. Transit City would have largely been rolled out within the next 15 years, and if we built transit city with monorails that gap shrinks even further. I'm not saying road repairs are unimportant, i'm saying transit is much, much, much more important. Filling potholes may make a ride smoother, but it doesn't make driving much less dangerous.

  • @gricer1326

... I remember you from last night. ..... the existing roads still have to be maintained and repaired for safety reasons, for one. Transit infrastructure takes along time to start and complete ... look at TO !

  • @cheeriosinabowl Which is why transit should unquestionably be placed above road repairs in terms of priority, and no new road work should be started while transit infrastructure is being upgraded and expanded.

  • @blueraja93

... yes, we are far behind. Pathetic is a better word. For one, we have NO rapid transit from our new and expanded Terminal 1 at the airport to downtown. We have the same antiquated, sluggish bus routes we had back in the 1970'2 !! Toronto will never reach a world-class city status with old and slow buses stuffed like sardines.

  • If I were to meet Rob Ford today, I would ask him to PLEASE fix the pot holes, cracks and horrible roads in Toronto. The roads are horrible and need repairing NOW.

Toronto's mayors have been bickering for OVER 30 years on expanding the subway lines, rapid transit, etc etc. Nothing was ever accomplished. So, don't hold your breath on any quick fix, people!

  • @daveni2 After conducting further research I think transit city should have come to fruition. Subways would be nice... I guess lrts supporting the east and west makes more sense economically than 1 subway extension for scarborough. (Not to mention the predicted low ridership and possible privatization which would defeat the whole damn purpose).

  • @blueraja93 such hostility
