The 2010 Summer Solstice is June 21. An alignment noting the solstice can be seen at the great kiva named Casa Rinconada in Chaco Culture National Historical Park. The alignment can be observed as the date nears and shortly following this date. The following slide presentation is from the morning of June 18, 2010.
The alignment is observed when sunlight moves through a window and frames a specific alcove. (This window was partially reconstructed many years ago as part of a preservation project; the alignment has only been identified recently.) It is not known if this is by design or by chance, but due to the great number of solar and lunar alignments in the buildings at Chaco, it is felt this might be a legitimate solstice marker.
The solstice alignment is followed by blooms from the same time period (at Chaco).
THis is what exactly i wanted to to do, a small time lapse. You have taken GREAT photos... Good job sir.
