  • hey, my dad recently has had 3 SBOs from adhesions due to ruptured appendix in the past month, each time treated with NG tube. they won't do surgery b/c they say its gonna get worse. its scary, a couple questions if u don't mind.have you had any SBOs since surgery? what is your diet like? was your SBO partial or complete?

  • @lightsabre5511 Hi there and thanks for the question :) Firstly I hope your dad comes right, adhesions are nasty and can return especially with subsequent surgeries unfortunately. I found out later it wasnt the adhesions that caused it, my b.o was because my bowel was sewn closed. It was complete obstruct. Have had large b.o 1 tme b4 this in the u.k. I do avoid certain foods and i only eat at night due to a pre existing bowel condition.

  • Kirst, forgot to mention that while I had the bowel blockage I had a kidney stove too. Kidney stones are another side effect from Crohn's. Fun Fun Fun. I had a question how were they able to put an NG tube in you while you are awake. I find it so hard for the nurse to put that in me. You remember any tricks to make it easier? Thanks for you imput.

  • Hi

Kidney stones too, how painful!!! I had no N.G tube, the only time they offered to stick one in was while I was vomiting violently, so I always said no, unless they gave me some sedation with it, they refused to give me any relaxants so I was never given a tube. Its crazy, because in the past when I have had a gastroscopy they have had to sedate me hardcore, or I start to rip the tubes out (I'm not aware of this at time). In special cases they can sedate, they just didn't with me,.

  • I was just in the hospital last week with an intestine blockage. Most pain the human body can experience. My problem is from Crohns Disease so I am always in and out of the hospital. Being in the hospital makes you so depressed. Hope you are well now.

  • Hi there, gah you poor thing!!! Yes bowel obstruction is truely foul, did they fix it surgically or conservatively with a nasal gastric tube etc.

Crohns is such a hard disease, I have a friend with it and they had to have their whole large bowel removed, I have empthy for all sufferers.

I hope you stay well and strong. My health is up and down but hey Im alive!

    KInd regards

    Kirst

  • You have suffered so much. Your video will help others understand what can happen. I hope you are feeling good and looking forward to your life ahead. Have positive thoughts and don't stress yourself about potential problems. Peace to you and your family.

  • I think I have constipation right now and I just heard about this so now Im doin everything I can to get cleared up. I don't wanna have surgery. My upper rib hurts when I move but I don't see how that could have anything to do with it. See I get really paranoid in situations like this. If I hear about somethin I think I have it. Lol. I just really need to get rid of this constipation.

  • Wow! --- My heart goes out to you. --- I hope you're feeling better. --- I have a co-worker, friend, getting this operation on thursday.

  • Truly amazing video. I just got discharged myself after being diagnosed with SBO. Mine was from scar tissue from a hernia operation as a kid. Your video made me realize how lucky I am. Thank you for that. And hope all is well.

  • @kdfb35

I have had three small intestine resections over the past 30 years. Everyday is a new adventure. Not one day that goes by where I have no pain. If I have a blockage I usually can ride it out at the hospital with lots of morphine until its eases up. Maybe someday they will find a cure for Crohn's Disease :-)

  • Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Ozwizard ask away I don't mind questions. Yes I am in this video, It shows my journey, and as I got sicker how the meds affected me (bloating etc), but now my appearance is back to pre operation.
