Apologist & Director of Alpha & Omega Ministries [aomin.org], Dr James White is coming to Brisbane for a much anticipated debate against Author, Apologist, Mr. Roger Perkins. With Dr. White arguing the affirmative, and Mr. Perkins the negative, the two will be addressing the doctrine of the Trinity, and in particular, the distinct and eternal person; 'The Word' - Jesus Christ

You're gauge of salvation is based upon denomination? I was pretty sure that the bible says salvation is by Grace through faith (Ephesians 2), not of works (yes, the includes adherence of subscription to a particular denomination) Be careful of taking the Judgement seat of Christ as you're own- that's only delusion. Only God knows who is saved and who is not. The only person you must vouch for is yourself. Examine your heart, read the gospel. Is the love of God in you?

@samblakex2 Can't wait! i listened to it and it was very one sided. Perkins seemed to carry a grudge and did not respond to any of the questions. Though i know James tends to get a bit wordy and needs more work simplifying things to an audience with little Greek and exegesis background. Perkins sounded like a grumpy old man. James white seemed to disengage later in the debate and did not press Perkins. Next time i would recommend David Bernard who is more professional.

@brendos444 I disagree, what Mr Ehrman wants is something so supernatural even if he got it he wouldn't accept it(wants all the papyrus with a photograph of the disciple signing his john hancock on his writings). James White and Dan Wallace, and even William Lane craig destory Ehrman. Ehrman won't even deny that we have 99% of what the scriptures says and the in fact the bible is the best preserved book of antiquity ever.

I just listened to this debate on google. James White used scripture texts and never did get a rebuttal on the specific texts. Roger Perkins avoided the texts , and had no real response. (because the texts used by White disprove oneness}. It was a grand example of someone not wanting to see the obvious because it jes don' feet

... in truth, none of his antics are edifying for anyone involved. I'd suggest that if you take pleasure in his ministry you should really examine why this is so. I just don't see how such an argumentative person could appeal to a Christian.

At first White appears to be scholarly and smart. But if you follow him for a while you'll realise that he's a debate junkie that takes on the ill-informed. When he does take on genuinely smart ppl like Bart Ehrman, he comes off second best, even if you do believe in his position. He harps on about logic, but Ehrman trumped him in the logic department. It was embarrasing because James White didn't even know it was happening to him and still went away claiming victory....

@samblakex2  Yeah, My wife and I had a great time. There may have been a good chance we spoke at the debate or sunday morning service. I was third row left of the pulpit (the same side James White was sitting on during the debate).

Just got back to my home town. The debate was great. I would have to say after the cross examination and everything that was said during the debate. James White walked away the victor. The service sunday morning was also very good.

@becauseHeisgood I think James White's ministry probably does more harm than good. When I compare White with someone like NT Wright or Kallistos Ware it just doesn't seem like he is gaining much ground or even in the same league. The reason isn't because he's not as smart as these guys (tho he's not as smart as them). The reason is because he shows not love - a loveless gospel. He's just preaching to his own Reformed crowd.

@becauseHeisgood C'mon... it is rejected not only by the Catholics, who regard Augustine as a Saint, but also by the Orthodox. Calvin took stuff that Augustine of Hippo and Anselm of Canterbury way too far. No where can it be shown that Calvinism (the teaching) as taught by Calvinists was taught before the Reformation.
