I bought a 4*6" piece of "Single Strength" unlamented glass from a local glass shop for a dollar.
I then vertically (in one direction) sanded the glass with 400 grit sandpaper. This creates a smearing of light that mimics the light smear used in anamorphic lenses.

This cost me $1. Awesome.

  • How finely did you sand the glass?

  • @vonnerNY I really can't say, there was no scientific method applied. If you can get your hands on some cheap glass give it a try. Start light, look at the results then get progressively heavier till you get the look you like. I'm pretty sure I used 800 grit paper.

  • I know there's a filter that can be bought that mimics the anamorphic look but I think it's like $200 or something ridiculous like that. Anyway, $1- can't beat that!
