И тут же, на соседней улице, начинают ваять совсем другие памятники - гетману Мазепе - с привлечением самых высоких покровителей. Официальный Киев ускоренными темпами переписывает и перестраивает историю.

The Russian Army defeated Sweden in that battle, but at Poltava Swedish future triumphed over Russian history.

Today, Sweden displays the highest standard of living on Earth.

Russia is not like Africa perhaps, but it is far from being anywhere near Sweden.

We Swedes don't wish to insult Russians or other Slavs. But we demand a little of national self respect and domestic political competence from our surrounding future global partners.

The one reason Sweden lost was causew the commander instead of Karl XII made the army regroup instead of attacking the russian camps where everyone was sleeping, therefore they could prepare and regroup. Also the swedes had no cannon, they were few and they were tired and hungry, Lewenhaput had not come ith reinforcements and supplies and Rehnskiöld could not get out of Finland. And then the Ottoman sultan did almost nothing to attack russia and help Sweden.
