  • Would a backhand to the face be advisable when you have their hand at your chest?

  • To me, at that point of the technique it shouldn't be necessary. If you find they are resisting you by bending their arm it will be difficult to do a backhand. A knife-hand or elbow to the ribs may be useful. Switching to a different jointlock may be necessary.

  • Your balance is very compromised, I take it your art of hapkido uses a tilt rather than a pivot to apply pressure to the lock. Perfectly valid but can I offer a suggestion if you're going to do it that way? Replace the knife hand with your elbow by sliding your hand over and rolling their arm. Also when lowering the body try leaving your opponent side leg trailing a bit and drop at the knee. This has the added bonus of blocking their hips so the opponent can't tuck them in to cause an escape.

  • Ok thanks.

  • impossible to kill anyone with this technique, and you shouldn't kill people anyway. martial arts are for self defense.
