  • I really don't like when my comment section is used to push a link that has nothing to do with the artist / song. You want to send me video response please do, you want to speak of another artist singing the same song fine. However to use the comment section to to speak of another artist and push a link ( that has nothing to do with the artist or that particular song) I take exception. It's bad form. :)

  • I don't know if it's her voice or just the song itself, but there's something so satisfying about this song. It makes me wanna smoke a cigaret and enjoy a glass of red wine while looking at the city lights at night..

  • @wilhemsen1 Minus the fag.

  • This song will forever be associated with Killer of Sheep.

  • I first fell in love with this song when I heard it many years ago on Raisin' In The Sun with Danny Glover. IMHO, the ONLY version of this movie worth watching. Hard to find for under a 100 bucks these days...

  • I'm 14 and....nah, I'm a 57-y-old English bloke, I knew about Bessie Smith, Billlie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Aretha etc. but I had ignored Dinah till now, thinking of her as some MOR singer. God was I wrong! What a singer, this is the blues, I didn't know what I was missing till now...

  • The Earth wakes up..........

  • @nicco47 I think Max Richter is one of the most uncommon componists today. His version and this one are completely different. His achievement is, in my opinion, bringing the sadness an melancholy of this song to the fore.

  • @wilhemsen1 cant believe we share the exact same feeling. My physical body is here but my soul belongs to 60's

  • @vinylsingleman Then close your eyes...and listen,you will enjoy it,and hear the nuances.Enjoy

  • @AloysiusTheFifth Richter failed completely,he spoiled it,(i know that's subjective).Perhaps he should write something of his own..you cannot gild the lily...certainly not a rose like Dinah.

  • When I hear songs from her, Nat King Cole, Gloria Lynn, Nancy Wilson..... I just sit back and think about life and love... In that order - and Thank God that I'm still here to enjoy they great music. Keep the music coming!!

    Thanks!!!!!
