  • The Impromptus are among my favorites. Dong Min Lim is playing this to perfection. I like his interpretation the best of all of them.

  • @mankywank

horowitz is actually famous for making a ton of mistakes. his performances are rarely mistake free. however, people praised him for the power of his interpretations, his emotional depth. not his technical accuracy.

  • The greats such as Rubinstein and Horowitz probably make mistakes but I've never seen them. They are truly in another class when it comes to musical performance. I know it's a small mistake but there definitely ARE pianists who make much less mistakes.

  • Skipping pages is better than making an obvious mistake though. I do agree he recovered well, but I'm just saying, being a concert pianist who makes large mistakes like that makes you not that much better than a lot of amateurs

  • What?! Facial expressions?! That shouldn't even come into it! You're supposed to look at his hands, d'you fancy him or something?

  • i love this improptu! it's my favourite! dong min lim plays it beautifully, but i prefer Rubinstein...

  • Very good!

  • It doesn't seem to be apparent to me. I listened to it several times. I didn't see it the last time. It could be the recording or the media player.

I like his rendition the most. This is a near perfect performance. I gave it a 5-star.

  • I think you are referring to his beginning the RH arpeggiated chord (5:38) an octave to high but he quickly played the rest of it an octave lower where it belonged. I don't consider this a major "goof" since he quickly corrected it. I have caught myself doing the same thing but, being amateur, I wouldn't have the stage presence enough to correct this. This shows he is an excellent professional but needs to work on his facial expressions.

  • Beautiful playing!!
