@dkgambler Haha, from my experience in public accounting at PwC, the only people who made partners were the ones who had no soul and life and were in addition incompetent to do their jobs. I quit after several years and finally learned what a humane workplace is where no one has to constantly convince you that you provide value. When I look back when I was a college student dreaming of working at the Big 4, I can't believe how stupid I was!

{continued}. As you would guess, my proposal didn't go over too well. So we kept spending a boatload of hours planning, and then threw the planning document out the window when she had to sho how useful she was. Oh and she's a partner now, she hung around so long they couldn't figure out what to do with her and of course they couldn't fire her.

LOL, when I was at EY I had a manager who wrote review comments to show how useful she was. When I pointed out that they related to items that we determined were below scope and would not be tested, she huffed and puffed that she wanted responses to her comments, blah blah. I then pointed out that if we were going to audit by the seat of our pants, let's prepare a one page planning document that says we're going to audit by th seat of our pants and save the many hours of planning time.

This is a dead-on representation of the typical manager. I'm sure if any given manager saw the clip, they'd have no clue they were the model for it. They're completely clueless suckups who actually believe they'll be partner someday...
