I love the Mig 31 in AC 5. Its insane speed makes up for its lack of manuverability. I still think the best plane in the game is the F-14D but thats my opinion. And any plane can be lethal in the right hands while using a better plane can help it will not make you a better pilot.

the "stealth" helps...alot but th F-35 might loose to the F-14 D cuz the F-35 really isnt a fighter...its more a bomber well ground support but you know what i mean like i sed the stealth helps alot and the supercruse so it can out run almost every jet (note i sed almost) so it really has no real reson to stay and fight it could out run the F-14D so yeah jsut sayin lol i love boulth jets but i love the F-14 D more lol

If you want good performance, but not as expensive as the friggin F-22, buy the MiG-31 Foxhound. I can use the "In the Cockpit" view to shoot down everything on the Ace Combat 5 level 8492 on hard. What does that tell you?

Trust me on this one: Learn to use it, and be patient, like I was, and soon you'll see enemy Aces drop like fiery bullet-riddled flies. The Foxhound is nothing if not loyal. It isn't manueverable, true, but you'll hardly notice if you can fly like I can.

Seriously, the F-35 is the sign of everything that is wrong with stealth technology, and it is also a sign that aviation designers have not learned from Vietnam. F-4 pilots routinely had issues with their aircraft due to the lack of a mounted gun, and the concept of the gunpod didn't come around for a long while.

Also, if I were a Marine on the ground, I'd much rather have another plane doing combat orbit above me, even a Harrier much rather a Lightning. Say what you want, but when the Lightning has to leave after only a maximum of four runs, while other planes can linger much longer..

Yes, however it does not detract from the point that dollar by dollar, you can get more done with another aircraft such as the Sukhoi Flanker series, Mikoyan Fulcrum series, F-16 Fighting Falcon series, F-15 Eagle series, F-22 Raptor series and the F/A-18 Legacy AND Super Hornet series
