Explore the nature in the woodland of Biosphere Reserve, Thailand. Twenty member of southern youth learning network together with staff from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus including Wanchamai, Tanakorn, Somsak, Narongrit, Rungnapa, Khanitsorn and Ratree spent 3 days& 2 nights at Sakaerat Environmental Research Station, NE of Thailand. We explored lives in the woodland and the values appreciated. The ecosystem consisted of distinctive ecotone namely Evergreen dry forest & Deciduous dipterocarp forest, the typical NE and N region of Thailand. The local wisdom, art & science were integrally observed and learnt. Shorea sp,, Cycas siamensis and grass are among the dominant species of the Deciduous dipterocarp whereas the Hopea sp are the majority of plant found in the other. It's rich in biodiversity with lots of plant and animal i.e. birds, amphibia, reptilia, mammalia, insects, moth, epiphyte, fungi, lichen. We'd like to thank Tourism Authority of Thailand and PSU Pattani for their financial supports also thanks to the Natural History and Local Learning Network Museum , Faculty of Science and Technology and Mrs. Orn Duangchan, staff from TAT for their co-organizing this project. Last but not least the nice photographs presented here most of them were taken by Khanitsorn & Somsak I appreciate that.
It's a nice walk on the trail and good birding there at the Biosphere Reserve. Also good fun to learn science in such an informative style, appreciate art in the woodland and amazing local wisdom that pass on from generation to generation.
