http://live.pirillo.com - Apparently, it's quite obvious when I play with the KAOSSILATOR that I don't have a sense of rhythm. Mbonzo is a long-time percussionist, and sent me these tips to help me out. Let's see if they work.
Try using one of the patterns in 90 - 99. Press record THEN hit the pa an let it go through the whole 2 measure loop. Once that's in place, recording in time is easy!!!!
You have sense of rhythm, because you know you're out of time. It's just the way your hand (physicality) is not yet trained to react to that rhythm. Yeah sound tip - groove with the rhythm. Dance with it. Or at least tap your foot. Or bang your head. You don't need to count out loud in your head (but on some people that helps a lot). All people have rhythm. In our mother's womb we always "lock into" our mother's heartbeat. Now that's rhythm.
Just play with a metronome in crotchets and increase the speed gradually, that's what all instrumental virtuosos do, otherwise they wouldn't be as good.
Note: it develops timing not rhythm, the definition of rhythm goes far beyond just times.
