After visiting the Evesham Vale Light Railway we took a trip to Toddington Station on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. Due to the landslip at Chicken Curve the Railway has been split, one section being steam hauled between Winchcombe and Cheltenham Racecourse and the other being a DMU service from Toddington to as near as permitted to the landslip then back to Toddington with a five minute wait before the DMU then proceeds onwards onto the recently opened Laverton extension. This video focuses on the DMU service where in service was BR Class 117 Unit nos.51365 & 51407 which were on loan from the Plym Valley Railway. We see her at Toddington waiting to depart with the 1600 train to Laverton. We then see her departing Toddington heading south on the first part of the journey. Afterwards we move to a footbridge near Stanton where we see her heading north along the Laverton extension. Our third and final shot sees her heading south back to Toddington with the driver giving us a nice two tone.

  • looks like theres room for double track to be restored, judging by the way they have slewed the track, any plans for double track?

  • @vikingsmb as nice as it would be to see it doubled again I don't think they have any plans to do so =(

  • Remember the 117's very well as most were based at Reading where I used to live. Great to see the GWR making use of them and hopefully the GWR will have better times ahead.

  • @AN21files thanks again for watching & commenting =) good luck to them in the future

  • Great video good to see them up & running again.

  • @0147whiskers thank you =)

  • @LordGeorgeRodney yep once the curve has been sorted this has a very great future indeed. Can't wait for the line to Broadway to open!

  • What a great future for this line the extension to Broadway not far away now... the platform and station at Broadway being built then onto Honeybourne which is being done up, Not only that but also possibility for extension back into Cheltenham and even double track being put into place!

    Love the prospects!

  • @iantrack thank you =)
