"...maybe you can solve the mystery of why they left the test pattern on the screen UNEDITED FOR 1 MINUTE"

I don't understand why she didn't let her friend come up just because they were having a family dinner. She could have introduced her friend to her family.

@searchforcharles It sad just as you know alot of cases can happen with the girlfriend doing something, and i had a feeling that they were trying to make this video look like that who knows, still it is sad.I really hope one day he comes back. But on the sad note if something serious did happen to him, for a healing point of view it would be really good to know what happened to him...I really am sorry for your loss .. I understand what its like to lose people very close..This story made me cry

Thank You for watching 'Canadian Camper' UM segment on 'Charles k j Horvath' aged 20 in 1989 - missing without a trace for 21+ years.
Blame cannot be pointed.....life is just so cruel at times....
What about mom - she bought his ticket...if only I had said no to his request to visit Canada.....
Wished those who KNOW would CALL CRIMESTOPPERS or me and his remains be recovered and my boy brought home.

Cannot comment on Canadian Girls...but I can about the COLD BITTER WINTERS.
Charles was born in northern Ontario...when we arrived there it was 30 below....so so cold you could not breathe or stand up on the ice. Not great memories...so so cold. mom Denise Allan

It is easy to take a negative view when watching the segment on UM's Canadian Camper.
They had been very kind to Charles, given him food and a place to sleep + drove him to work. The 1st people to contact me after seeing my ad in the Newspaper. Wrote a very STRONG letter to UM condeming the behavious of the Police (who had given UM inaccurate information which caused UM to cancel filming the previous Nov 1992). Bless you for caring. mom Denise Allan

Thank You for taking the time to watch the segment and for caring about my Charles.
It is very difficult being interviewed with a huge camera in your face and 17 crew around. I know I was there with her in the room on the day.
Being interviewed was overwhelming for me...I'd travelled across the World.. no bed for 3 nights..arrived late afternoon (body time 4.00am) had to be on set @ 8.00am next day. Had to drive mysefl and find the address where UM were filming. mom Denise

Joanne did actually let kj up and spoke with him at her apartment door.
Hitchhiking isn't safe and it never has been. At least in the US. Unfortunate for those who relied it on years ago and never came home. Many of them were kids who had runaway from home.

@cameron21381
It was quite common for young people to hitch hike around Europe.
Charles was born in Canada wanted to visit the Country of his birth and his natural father Max. His plan was to work and back pack his way east to west across the country. He kept in touch with family @ home in England all the time so we did not worry so much...(or tried not to). Charles sent his final letter home 1989 may 11th from KELOWNA BC Canada to mom re their meeting up for their 21st + 40th.
