@Morgansaur As a retro gamer, the eliminating of physical media makes me sad. What happens when games go out of production? They will essencially disappear forever without physical copies.

Wonder what effect this would have on rental services such as GameFly. Also, what if the motion picture industry jumps on board and does the same thing with movies.

Honestly though, with the PC game industry moving more and more in the direction of downloads instead of physical media, this is inevitable. Can you resell a game you bought on Steam? No. I wouldn't be surprised if the next generation of consoles forgo physical media all together and make games download-only as well.

it's fine with me. I dont play consoles anyway plus steam has their sales for pc games I got some amazing deals last year through steam.

Hell No! For consoles, so many people rely on either selling their old games, or buying used copies. And for PC, who still buys Disc PC Games? Pretty much everything is available via download, through steam, origin, etc.

Honestly, if they banned used games, we would see a huge spike in pirated games, especially on the console

I guess you will never actually own a game then, just leasing it, can't even give it away! BS indeed.

But to enforce such an idea makes me think how? what I have read is the concept of a writable portion of the optical medium or to make the future consoles online only.
