Good call. The Kinks as we know and Ray Davies song writing were very English. That's another reason they never cracked the states. However some of the greatest tunes ever written were by the kinks. 'Village Green Preservation Society' is a masterpiece (top 10 albums ever??)....Waterloo Sunset sends shivers down my spine.

The only time I can remember seeing Ray singing without an instrument (guitar or very rarely a piano) with the band. Excluding a promo videos. ie. au naturale

A mouth organ for a couple of bars obviously doesn't count.

Excellent 60's garage here from a totally underrated band who went on to write some of the best songs/lyrics ever, over 2 decades and in many different guises-garage, country, blues, folk, rock and roll, vauderville and jazz. The fact that they couldn't tour the States was the only reason they weren't as big as The Who or The Stones.

@boxfitter thats coz they were called the ravens before they were called the kinks (just if u didnt know) The kinks are the best band ever and ray is a god to me.
