This is the third part in a series of videos that shows the drive from Calgary, AB to Vancouver, BC. The route is largely on the Trans-Canada Highway. The exception is the stretch from Kamloops, BC to Hope, BC where I followed the Coquihalla highway. This is the fastest route between the two Olympic cities.
This third video covers the stretch between Golden, BC and Revelstoke, BC. This portion of the highway goes over the Rogers Pass and the Cascade range of mountains. The Cascade range as the name implies gets a large amount of precipitation every year. The region is home to one of the few inland temperature rainforests of large cedar and hemlock trees.
Shortly after my camera breifly pointed at the sky, the structures that are seen are snow sheds protecting the highway from avalanches in winter. The high amount of precipitation here translates to extremely heavy snowfall in the winter.
This was filmed on August 8, 2009 at 20x rate.
I found it funny that there's a Vancouver in Washington, just over the bridges of Portland, OR.

@landtoseasandiego Well I suppose since George Vancouver did a great deal of exploration in the area naming two cities and a large island is at least partly justified. :)

Mountain scenery looks better in the opposite direction for this portion of your journey. Haze also limits enjoyment of this section.

I agree, the mountains leading up Roger's Pass look better when Eastbound. I hope to do a series in the opposite direction, but unfortunately the footage I currently have just has too many bug splats. :p
Next time...

What a wonderful trip!
Lots of green trees and blue sky.
There's a little error in the description:
