Salford Quays, Greater Manchester - 7th September, 2011

Salford Quays is an area of Salford in Greater Manchester, England, near the end of the Manchester Ship Canal. Previously the site of Manchester Docks, it became one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the United Kingdom following the closure of the dockyards in 1982. This video features views around the urban redevelopment at Salford Quays in Greater Manchester, close to the city of Manchester. It includes the Manchester Metro tram stop for Salford Quays, areas of open water, canals, bridges, new modern tower blocks, the Lowry theatre and gallery and Media City UK.

Thanks for providing a good insight into Salford Quays, Stuart. I had wondered what this area looked like, as I have heard it mentioned before. I see you showed the BBC at 5:28. In 2007 the BBC moved five departments to this building - looks nice. Salford Quays has looks like a modern area and must provide good views from one of those new flats. Apparently, it became one of the first and largest urban regeneration projects in the UK following the closure of the dockyards in 1982. Thanks. Craig

It all looks very nice but I used to work at Salford Quays and no matter how they develop this area it will always be surrounded by some of the worst, most deprived areas and estates where thievery and violent crime are a way of life & can be compared to parts of Africa. No matter how modern and appealing these buildings look no-one is safe there with gangs of tracksuit & hood wearing youths on their bicycles looking for their next victims. It is a horrible place and I wouldn't work there again.
