You have the best view to this beautifull volcano from the holiday huts "Entre Volcanes" in Cherquenco, Chile!!! We were there 02. of January 2008.

For your information, if you read about volcanos at all, Krakatoa it a basaltic lava volcano... the most harmless volcanos in planet Earth for a smooth & spectacular eruptions.
Chilean Cordillera de los Andes has felsic lava eruptions, the most destructives of them all.

I'm agree in that the Andes volcanoes are in the group of the most destructives of all, because their lava is very explosive. However, if you see the eruptive history of the Llaima volcano you should know that it is a more "quiet" volcano, with eruptions that have ranged between a VEI (volcanic explosive index)=2 to 3 in the past 100 years. This eruption was a VEI=2, so the eruption affects an area close to the volcano, and it's not a really dangerous eruption as krakatoa was in the 19th century
